Hard won legislative progress is being dismantled by the extremists currently setting the agenda in Congress. Executive agencies responsible for implementing and enforcing our laws are being intentionally decimated from within; they are being rendered incapable of carrying out our will.
In the face of this, it may seem that all we can do is work to “hold the line.” Unfortunately, if we only focus on working against the destructive agenda, we will keep losing ground. When we simply oppose, we are on the opponents “turf.”
We must move the game to our turf by working for pivotal changes grounded in fundamental values; pivotal changes that a vast majority agree would serve the greater good, but that too many believe are “out of reach.”
If we want to turn things around, we must do battle with immobilizing cynicism and hopelessness.
Don’t wait for a “movement.” Just MOVE. Do something this week to advance a cause you care about.
